The Real Ron Paul Report: 08/29/2011

Well CBS News can be applauded for this report on Ron Paul's view on evolution, if CBS has the goal of reporting on ancient history.

Sure, Ron Paul should take whatever press he can get given he's being ignored, but a 2007 YouTube clip of him saying that he personally is skeptical about evolution?  Is that the best slam piece they can come up with?

I happen to disagree with Paul on this, as well as several other issues.  But the beauty of the Constitution, and his approach to the USG, is that if the federal government were the proper size, such differences would not matter.  The USG has no business regulating your thoughts on evolution, but it is done indirectly right now.  Federal funding for research.  Education policy.  Public television programming.

Views on evolution (or any other number of issues) only matter if you think the USG needs to be involved in every single aspect of life.  If you reject that suggestion, the only issues you'll grade candidates on is their adherence to the Constitution and their administration of the few, specific areas where the USG should be exercising authority.  And thoughts on where we came from isn't one of them
