I got away from this for a bit, what with primary season and all, but here's a good one. $25,000 for a consultant to locate art for downtown Salem, MA. As if the art alone weren't a waste.
It's not that I have anything against art. I like art. I dig paintings and sculpture and violins, provided they're accompanied by something other than drums (not a big Dave Matthews fan). But the federal government has no business deciding what art we should have in public. Additionally-- and hopefully obviously-- there's no grant of authority for the USG to be running around tossing out baksheesh for artists.
Enjoy.
