Sometimes it is what is not said that matters. Ron Paul has been slamming the House leadership for weeks on their impotent attempts to cut the federal budget. Yet this article from two weeks ago by Michael O'Brien of The Hill only mentions the good doctor by associating him with aspiring Migraine in Chief Michelle Bachmann. Check this comical quote:
"Bachmann has been the most visible opponent of raising the debt ceiling under any circumstances, a stance in which she's joined by Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas)."
So Ron Paul is just along for the ride then? Despite decades of loudly lamenting overspending and always refusing to vote for the bills that got us into this mess, he is apparently just jumping on the Bachmann Bandwagon.
The usual GOP "front runners" (according to the mainstream media) are discussed in detail, of course, but even minor players like Gingrich, Santorum, and Pawlenty get more ink than Paul.
For more than a decade The Hill has been to the Washington what Variety is to Hollywood, but the dismissive coverage of Ron Paul here treats an A-list candidate like a B-lister. With fundraising like his and decent polling numbers, Ron Paul is more Angelina Jolie than washed up reality star. Yes, I just associated Ron Paul with Angelina Jolie. (If that does not up USGwaste.com web traffic than nothing will.)
If there is any good news on campaign reporting regarding Ron Paul, it is that at least this guy is mentioned without equating him to Ron Paul. Maybe now the media has someone new to kick around.
