I do not want to tread into international issues, so I am not going to write extensively on this subject, but I have always wondered why we could not just legalize elephant farms, thereby negating the market for smuggling such as this.
Maybe it is too burdensome to raise, kill, and sell the scraps of elephants. But if it can be done for everything from catfish to cattle, why not elephants?
What am I missing here?
I have to wonder if the massive USG effort against this stuff is thwarting the obvious cure- legalization. The same, liberty-infused idea which clean up trafficking in everything from hookers to drugs to day laborers. Legalize and regulate, from rhino horns to horny johns, it is the solution.
