I am certain the status quodiots in Washington will "solve" the debt ceiling issue before next Tuesday, but in the event that the weekend passes with out such a brilliant solution, I intend to celebrate Default Eve as the holiday it is.
I will decorate my Liberty Tree (an American poplar, chopped down from an now unfunded public park which had previously been an obstacle to my free exercise of my property rights) with cheap decorations like US dollar bills, treasury notes, and TARP backed credit default sweeps.
Then, I will hang a toeless sock in front of my chimney, in solidarity with the 300,000 people in my home state of Nevada who do not have jobs with which to generate income to buy new clothes.
Lastly, I will eat Chinese food, out of respect for our bankers from the East, who were kind enough to inspire the holiday.
Here is hoping Tuesday is the start of a new path and a holiday worth celebrating.
But I doubt it. Chances are it will just be another day with more debt.
